About Us
The Pacific Ecology and Evolution Conference (PEEC) is a student-run, annual conference that aims to provide opportunities to early-career scientists to exchange ideas and seek collaborations with peers from across Western Canada and the United States. The conference was first held in 1979 and since then has provided opportunities for thousands of researchers to share their work and build their networks in a supportive and collaborative environment. PEEC is a multi-disciplinary and intellectually stimulating conference and we welcome presentations on any and all types of ecology/evolution research.

After three years away, this year's conference will return to the beautiful Bamfield Marine Sciences Center in Bamfield BC for March 15 -17th, 2024! The conference starts with the boat ride out on the Francis Barkley from Port Alberni on Friday night, where the participants will get to meet and network over pizza and games. On Saturday, the conference talks will take place in the RIX Center throughout the morning and early afternoon, with a break in the late afternoon to give participants a chance to visit nearby Bradys Beach, before returning for dinner and then the poster session in the early evening. Following the poster session we will clear the room and set up for the legendary costume party. On Sunday morning we will have breakfast followed by our keynote address and conference prizes and wrap up before again boarding the Francis Barkley for the trip back to Port Alberni.

We acknowledge and respect the traditional territory of the Huu-ay-aht First Nations where the conference will be hosted.
